Stephanie, why should students and recent grads explore a career at CAA SCO?

The most important reasons are the unlimited career opportunities and the dedication the company has to its Members. CAA SCO understands the struggles students and new grads face, and aims to make the workplace transition smooth. Supervisors encourage you to participate in the in-house training and provide feedback to help you achieve your goals. Depending on your department, they may also allow you to dive into existing projects or start new ones. At such a diverse organization, there are many opportunities, from insurance, human resources and finance to information technology and auditing.

Why did you want to work at CAA SCO?

I wanted to work for a company that values employees, and CAA SCO does that through several commitments it makes to its employees: sharing our success, helping us grow professionally, keeping it flexible and making a difference. Another reason is how long it has existed and the growth it has experienced over its 110-year history. I wanted to experience firsthand how this organization has excelled and why it's on the GTA's Top Employers list.

Tell us how you think you stood out in the application and interview process.

Although I didn't have direct industry experience, I had the relevant experience of transferrable skills such as organization, critical thinking, leadership and problem-solving. I also believe my ability to present myself professionally and confidently, as well as the ability to interact well with others, helped.

What do you like best about working at CAA SCO?

I have a supportive and outgoing supervisor who allows me to explore what I can do and how I think I can make an impact on the company. This allows me to develop my own style and use critical, analytical and outside-the-box thinking. He's always there to provide feedback to make my idea or suggestion even better. Everyone feels like a family; there's close interaction among team members and a willingness to help one another. That means there's emotional support available for when times are tough.
